The HELP Act, which passed in 2015, expanded healthcare coverage to 96,108 Montanans and has contributed to saving lives, improving productivity and economic stability. Since the passage of Medicaid Expansion MT’s uninsured rate has plummeted from 23% to 7%.. In other words, 1 in 10 Montanans now have health insurance coverage thanks to the HELP Act.

Western Native Voice strongly supports the “Keep Montana Healthy Act” (House Bill 425), sponsored by Representative Mary Caferro. HB 425 removes the current expiration June 2019 date for healthcare coverage for nearly 100,000 hardworking Montanans, who are contributing to our Montana economy.

Western Native Voice is committed to supporting the “Keep Montana Healthy Act” because:

Over 15,000 Indigenous Montanans have healthcare coverage through Montana’s expanded Medicaid program
Medicaid expansion has helped people get more well rounded, comprehensive care
More health care dollars are generated to support rural clinics, hospitals and IHS facilities
Care provided by IHS has become less about life and limb and expanded to preventive care and elective surgeries
Does not include harsh work requirements that disregard challenges in Indian Country

Montana hospitals, non-profit organizations, businesses, and everyday people know that the HELP Act has worked for all of Montana.
