Stop unjust firing of Park Ridge Police Lieutenant Jason Leavitt

Park Ridge Police Lieutenant Jason Leavitt has been through hell and back for more than a decade, due to an incident that happened while he was off-duty ELEVEN years ago. Last year, however, he was completely exonerated of all charges when a Cook County Judge heard the case. Lieutenant Leavitt finally felt he and his family could get back to living normal lives in Park Ridge; however, earlier this week, Lieutenant Leavitt was ask to retire or be fired by the Park Ridge Police Chief Frank Kaminski (who did not become Chief until 3 years after this incident happened). Apparently Chief Kaminski has decided to fire Lieutenant Leavitt because he claims Lieutenant Leavitt did not complete the police reports correctly ELEVEN years ago; even though Lieutenant Leavitt’s three superior officers at the time signed off of the reports. This decision apparently came after a recently completed department investigation by an outside agency; and, even though Chief Kaminski, with regard to the truthfulness of the individuals’ alleged claims, is quoted in the Tribune Herald on 10/26/17 to say, “I think that’s one of the areas that’s unclear.” So, what is the REAL reason for this request to fire a highly decorated, community-involved, 23-year veteran of the police department who lives and raises his family in the City of Park Ridge and who was acquitted of any wrong-doing by the County and State? Help us uncover the answer to this question by attending the upcoming Board of Fire and Police Commissioners THIS Thursday, November 2nd at 6:30 pm at City Hall (second floor – enter through back of building) and by signing this petition. Let's help Lieutenant Leavitt receive the kind of respect he deserves for faithfully and selflessly serving our community for 23+ years.
