Dear Friends, 

It is with heartfelt gratitude that I send out this update. At yesterday's meeting of the California Coastal Commission, USFWS was forced to withdraw their request for consistency determination. 

Many of the commissioners were concerned about non target kills, and poison being introduced to the pristine environment of the Farallon Islands National Marine Sanctuary. The Commission requested to USFWS that they withdraw their application, and resubmit at a later time.

To all that signed and shared this petition, thank you. To those that submitted individual comments, thank you. 

This issue is by no means over, as the threat does remain. However, this is a victory, right now, to savor. This is a win for all the wildlife that calls the Farallon Islands National Marine Sanctuary home, and a win for the pristine environment of the Farallon Islands National Marine Sanctuary.
