Our country has long valued democratic principles; our Governments failure to continually support these values are having devastating affects on the culture of Australia.
When we allow our own people to be deprived of their liberties and we stand idly by; we send a message saying to those in power saying "You can get away with this."

Julian Assange is an Australian born man, and as of the 26/07/2015 has been detained without charge for 1,690 days, with 1,130 of them being inside the Ecuadorian Embassy.
He is a co-founder of Wikileaks, an online organization that is dedicated to the Freedom of Information and Protection of WhistleBlowers through Anonymity, blowing the whistle on numerous scandals involving government corruption and negligence of Human rights.

If not for this man, the world may have never become aware of the extent of the surveillance program of the US. A huge infringement on the rights of all citizens, all over the world.
The fate of this man, is incredibly important for every journalist, publisher, activist, government, citizen, and democratic value in our world.

For this reason, I am calling upon Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, Government and successive governments, to stand firmly behind Julian Assange, and in doing so, show your unwavering support for democracy.
I am also petitioning for:
1. The Australian Government to provide legal immunity to any person/ Entity who wishes to become a Whistle Blower

2. The protection of any publisher/ person/ entity in regards to publicly sharing the information released.

3. Reinforce the Right to a fair Trial for all, Australian, or non- Australian. On land, or over-seas.

4. And lastly, put the same effort into saving Assange as you did with the Bali Smugglers Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.
