Kæra stuðningfólk,
Fyrst og fremst vill ég þakka ykkur innilega fyrir stuðninginn. Í síðustu viku, þökk sé ykkar, tókst okkur að afhenda tæplega 2.000 undirskriftir til Katrínar Jakobsdóttur, forsætisráðherra. Raddir ykkar endurómaðu sameinað kall til um að krefjast vopnahlés á Gaza og fordæmingu á árásum Ísraelshers á saklausa borgara.
En mér þykir miður að þurfa að tilkynna ykkur, að þrátt fyrir sameinað átak okkar hefur ástandið á Gaza ekki batnað. Undanfarna daga hefur árásum Ísraelhers á Gaza aukist mikið, með þeim skelfilegum afleiðingum að yfir 200 manns eru drepin hvern einasta dag, helmingur þeirra börn. Nú þegar ég skrifa þetta hafa um það bil 6.000 manns verið drepin í árásum Ísraelhers, þar af 2.400 börn og 1.500 konur. En sú tala er líklega mun hærri, þar sem um 2.000-3.000 manns eru föst undir rústum bygginga víðsvegar um Gaza, helmingur þeirra börn, og er ólíklegt að hægt verði að bjarga flestum.
En við getum ekki, og munum ekki, standa þögul!
Stuðningur ykkar hefur verið ómetanlegur, en ég hvet ykkur til að halda áfram að tala fyrir vopnahléi á Gaza. Haldið áfram að dreifa þessum undirskriftalista. Hver undirskrift er rödd, og hver rödd skiptir máli. Ekki hætta að þrýsta á íslensk stjórnvöld að standa með Palestínu og kalla eftir tafarlausu vopnahléi.
Ísland er kannski lítill þjóð, en jafnvel smásteinar getur skapað öldur sem leiða til mikilla breytinga. Það minnsta sem við getum gert er að leggja áherslu á að Ísraelsstjórn stöðvi árásir sínar og að allir aðilar stöðvi átökin á Gaza.
Takk kærlega fyrir allan stuðning ykkar. Höldum áfram að tala fyrir friði og réttlæti fyrir Palestínu.

Dear Supporters,
First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your solidarity and dedication. Last week, thanks to your unwavering support, we were able to hand over almost 2,000 signatures to Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir. Your voices echoed the collective call for peace and an end to State of Israels attacks in Palestine and Gaza.
However, it deeply saddens me to inform you that despite our collective efforts, the situation in Gaza has not improved. The recent days have witnessed an escalation in the Israeli bombardment and attacks on Gaza, with the tragic loss of over 200 lives every day. Half of these innocent souls are children. As I write this, approximately 6,000 people have been tragically killed in the conflict, with 2,400 of them being children and 1,500 women. It is heartbreaking to think that an estimated 2,000-3,000 people are still trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings, many of whom may not survive, and half of those trapped are believed to be children.
But we cannot, and we will not, be silenced.
Your support so far has been monumental, but I urge you to continue speaking up. Share this petition far and wide. Every signature is a voice, and every voice matters. Do not stop advocating for Palestine and the pressing need for an immediate ceasefire to end this senseless killing.
Iceland may be a small nation, but history has shown that even the faintest voice can create ripples that lead to monumental change. The very least we can do is to put pressure on Israel to halt its attacks and for all parties to cease their hostilities. This is crucial not only to save the lives of innocent Palestinians but to allow their mourning for the lost lives and healing for the wounded.
Thank you for standing with us. Let's continue to raise our voices until peace and justice prevails for Palestine.
