Many of you will have forgotten signing this but I haven't forgotten you. I started this petition to change something knowing full well that I wouldn't get the numbers I needed for a Parliamentary debate.
People see the issue of having a massive private club in charge of many aspects of day to day living as a divisive issue. Some claim that nothing can be done as the club is too good or too bad to be reproached. I find this gulf of opinion on this organisation to be fascinating, but it's been a personal journey of growth too.
I've had people signing and withdrawing their signatures through fear and the same with supportive comments I've received. Some people I've asked see the Freemasons as a way of harmonising society while others are scared of them. It's true that we fear the unfamiliar, powerful and unusual things in life and it's safe to say that Freemasonry is all of these things. I've studied some of their rites and some of their lore (as their interests are hugely varied and diverse) and come to the conclusion that they were a natural progression of human theosophical advancement in the 1700's but stick to my statement that "everything that is established is in immediate need of reform".
There are subtle indicators that this is happening but I worry that they may have too many internal checks and balances to truly adapt to the future (that some believe they design). We're existing at the end of the British Empire event and what we're seeing is how all Imperial aspirations end. I think we know enough from history to "skip this rhythm" of boom and bust civilisations but am concerned that the digitalisation of life may make people feel above natural laws. This way of thinking has been prevalent since the birth of "Empiricism" when we came to an uncertain conclusion of only trusting our own senses to guide us in the world.
I've had a serious breakdown since I last spoke to you all and have come through wiser. My journey has taught me how important self care and self compassion are. We mustn't get stuck on a "me-centric" view but I think if all the good people of the world were a bit more selfish, we'd live in a fairer world. It is a world where people think objects and individuals belong to them, even though the atoms everything shares are about the same age. My hand is as old as yours, no matter how old you are. Ideas are immortal.
I'll leave you with two quotes:
"You must be the change in the world you want to see," Gandhi.
"Do not break the law unless it's to cease power," Julius Caesar.
Two great men from History but I think it's time we heard from the women too.
"We have to talk about liberating minds as well as liberating society." Angela Davis.
"A life is not important except in the impact is has on other lives." Jackie Robinson, baseball player and civil rights activist.
I love you guys for your interest and wish you peace, compassion and power in your fights against personal darkness. We exist one day at a time and sometimes survival is moment to moment. Never lose yourself as you're born with a unique destiny. May we be at peace and empowered.
