Hi folks,

Firstly my deepest thankyou to everyone who has signed this petition.

I have been quiet for an extended period of time to allow the complaint processes I initiated to finalise, and the results will shock you, in fact, they SHOULD shock every decent Australian!

I commenced a complaint with the Energy Ombudsman. All Origin had to do was to deny they had any information about me (I made a complaint that they were deliberately withholding information - which they are). In fact, NOW they are completely denying that I was a customer at the time they charged me fees they were not entitled to!

This complaint was dropped by the Energy Ombudsman, BECAUSE THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO POWER AT ALL IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM.

So... I then took the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. There my complaint was taken seriously - HOWEVER (this is the kicker), the Australian legislation that the Australian Government constructed, ACTUALLY PROTECTS private companies like Origin Energy!

THAT'S RIGHT, THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT ACTUALLY PROTECTS COMPANIES WHO DO THE WRONG THING AND COMMIT CRIMINAL OFFENCES.

The outcome of my complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner was that the section of the Legislation involved states that a company can not be compelled to provide any information if that information might lead to either a criminal prosecution, or civil claims against them!

The thing is, I have proof that I was a customer at the time, AND they mistakenly sent me a copy of the bill I wished to challenge, despite them NOW CLAIMING I WAS NOT A CUSTOMER AT THE TIME.

WOW, JUST WOW. So here we are folks, ANY private company in Australia is able to escape their criminal culpability simply by denying access to information - and the AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT PROTECTS THEM! 

This situation has now compelled me along to take this matter to the Government, but I can't do this without your help folks. I am asking for you to share this petition among your family, friends, and associates as much as possible - you can do this by sharing the link to the petition on the main page and sending it by email, text message, or on social media.

This petition has now taken on a new aspect, that of Governments doing NOTHING to protect your rights as a consumer by protecting the criminal activities of private companies. WE NEED REFORM, and we NEED IT NOW!
