Congratulations to all who signed our petition!
Your signature on the petition is not nothing. It is, in truth, very powerful.
We have over 3000 signatures but we are not done.
All mayoral candidates have noted and commented on the strong opposition to the road diet and bike lanes on 11th Street in the Heights. Several of us have attended mayoral forums in person and talked with the candidates. To a person, they have all noted what is going on here because you have spoken up. Keep up the pressure!
We hope that by talking to candidates about this issue, we may ultimately influence the outcome of the municipal races and the fate of 11th Street. Keep up the pressure!
Additionally, we must support other efforts to resist road diets and bike lanes lacking community support. One which you may know about is the “Save Montrose’s Live Oak Trees!” That petition has over 5000 signatures but more are needed to really get attention. Let us add our signatures to theirs’ and show the City of Houston and mayoral candidates that the community must be heard before changing our major thoroughfares.
