If you want to see anything approaching the beauty of this photograph, you'll need to be at the beach before 5.00am. And the summer days are already getting shorter.
If you don't want to walk forever to have a swim from the only available park you can find, you're advised to be there well before 7.30am or late in the day. If you booked your kids in for vac swimming lessons bring a cut lunch and a water bag. You'll need patience and fingers crossed. Or you could try sending the parking fairy ahead. Caution: competition for a park is fierce, road rage is alive and not well.
If you want to get internet signal you will have to mess about or wait until well and truly after or before hours.
If you want a parking spot in town - no idea where you'll find one.
If you want a coffee or a bite to eat, be prepared to queue, bring plenty of patience and good humour. You could make a new best friend while you're waiting. But really - no fun at all.
Probably not surprising then that opposition from the local community to Denmark Shire Council's Draft Local Planning Strategy and its proposal to create nine huge tourism precincts is growing apace. We have enough. People come here for our stunning natural landscapes and unique biodiversity and ecosystems. If Council proceed down the path they're on, those reasons will be gone and animals, birds, fish, insects, plants and trees with them - and not just the endangered ones.
