In an act that is nothing less than contemptuous and dismissive of an entire segment of the recreation sector, the authors of the new Sooke Official Community Plan have simply hit the delete key on every section of support and every action item related to backcountry access. The opposition to even allowing mountain biking in our backcountry and the fact that staff have neglected or refused to act on direction from council is a good baseline of the external influence being brought.
