It’s been nearly two years of waiting for an answer on this issue. The Food and Drug Administration has signaled that it will not enforce a ban on the use of N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) in dietary supplements, yet the agency refuses to reverse its position that NAC is a pharmaceutical ingredient which, by definition, excludes it from the supplement category.
This leaves the valuable antioxidant–derived from the naturally occurring amino acid L-cysteine–in a regulatory limbo that could persist for years to come.
Please keep sharing so our voices are heard.
Thanks, everyone.
