Amazing!! 555 Supporters! Thank you!

I am blown away by the show of support for this petition! We are at 555 supporters and we will continue to grow. Last night I emailed each member of the Fontana City Council to let them know we are united and all against this project being approved. I encourage you to email them and let them know we are against warehouses near our homes. The council members email addresses and the email that was sent to them are below.

My email to City Council:

I am writing to you tonight because I need your help. The community needs your help. We need you and other City Council members to listen to our objections regarding the Sierra Ave and Casa Grande Ave Warehouse project. This project clearly does not belong in this residential community. On November 10th, you will have a chance to vote on this project. A project that would require three zone changes and three General Plan amendments. It is evident to the community members in Fontana and Rialto that the proposed project has no place in an area that has homes to the east, north and west. A concern that was also shared by the Planning Commission on October 20th. This project would be built where Sierra Ave consists of only a single north and southbound lane, which would lead to increased traffic and safety concerns and was another issue raised by the Planning Commission. In addition to the traffic and safety concerns shared by Commissioner Sanchez, the Planning Commission also expressed concerns due to the fact that the City and Developer would not be able to guarantee that truck traffic would adhere to signage telling truck drivers that they are only allowed to drive on Sierra. This would lead to trucks utilizing Casa Grande avenue and driving within feet of homes in order to avoid traffic on Sierra.

Under construction right now is the 4th industrial building on Sierra between Sierra Lakes and the industrial zoning boundary line of Casa Grande avenue. The project you will be voting on is not just another warehouse. It is a break in that boundary, a boundary that separates industrial projects from the residents of Fontana and Rialto. This warehouse would be directly across from some of the newest homes in Fontana, which was another shared concern that was also expressed by the Planning Commission. This warehouse will provide no benefit to the community and only further display the perceived disregard the City has toward its community members when it comes to projects like these.

Warehouses do serve a purpose and are an important part of the economy. They create jobs and the role they play is vital. However, they do not belong near our homes. They have a severe impact on air quality and the environment. This warehouse, the three zone changes, three General Plan amendments and the reasons stated above make it abundantly clear to the community that this is not the place for this project. It is because of this, that I have started a petition to help convey to you and fellow Council members, that the community is strongly against this project. We are against the rezoning of nearby residential land to industrial and we are against this warehouse so close to our families and homes. I urge you to see this project from the eyes of community members that will have to deal with the impact every day and vote no on November 10th.
