According to a National Geographic study, if the Pilgrims had had plastic bags and had tossed them in the ocean, they would still be there today.

There is 9.2 billion tons of plastic on this planet - 6.3 billion tons of which were never recycled.

People don’t even know how long it would take for all that plastic to disintegrate - estimates are between 450 years to never.

Florida is considering a ban on plastic bags - let’s be a part of making that proposal a reality.

While it's around, it kills millions of members of sea life. Marine life mistakes plastic for food and eats it, either getting full on it and starving to death or suffocating themselves. People also end up consuming plastic. As it breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces, it eventually ends up in our waterways.

In coastal Florida, things have to change.

Coral Gables already has a ban on plastic, St. Petersburg is working on a plan, Miami, and Ft. Lauderdale all have plastic regulations - but we need to just band together and make it a statewide ban - just like New York and many other states have already done.

Plastics are threatening waterways and the health of wildlife.

Florida’s beaches are full of plastic. Let’s protect Florida - ban plastic bags now.
