Fix Riverlea's street lights for the safety of residents
The Issue

With street lights on certain streets having been out of order for over five years, this once vibrant community is now shadowed by insecurity and despair. Many of our youth, the hope of our neighborhood, have fallen victim to tragic circumstances due to the obscurity that offers shelter to criminal activities.

Families are fearful to step outside after sunset, and parents live in dread for the safety of their children returning home from school or jobs after dark. Despite countless calls and pleas to City Power for repairs, there has been no resolution. Our community has been left in the lurch, waiting interminably while incidents multiply and safety diminishes. The absence of functional street lighting contributes significantly to the increase in crime rates, leaving us exposed to theft, assault, and worse.
The City of Johannesburg has a responsibility to ensure the well-being of its citizens.
