Many people in our community are facing serious challenges because IRP card renewals are taking an exceptionally long time. Some residents have been waiting for months for their updated documentation.
🛑 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒔:
• Employment: Individuals have lost their jobs, and many cannot begin new roles because their paperwork is stalled in the system.
• Travel: Many are unable to travel for urgent personal reasons. We are aware of heartbreaking cases where residents could not travel home even after the death of a close family member.
• Ongoing Stress: The uncertainty surrounding work, travel, and personal responsibilities is putting immense pressure on families.
✊ 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝑻𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝒃𝒚 𝑲𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒊 𝑰𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅:
We have been actively communicating with the Immigration Department and the Minister’s Office to highlight the severe difficulties people are facing.
• Petition: Over 1,500 people signed our petition to draw public and political attention to the backlog.
• Dáil Éireann: At our request, Opposition TDs raised this issue in the Dáil, highlighting how these administrative delays disrupt daily life.
• Government Response: In response to these questions, the Minister addressed the issue on the floor of the Dáil, providing assurances that the matter would be resolved.
⚠️ 𝑪𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒔:
While the Minister for Justice committed to addressing the backlog and extended the temporary travel advisory until the end of February, no permanent solution has been implemented. Now that the advisory has expired, many people are facing renewed uncertainty.
🤝𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
As there has been no clear outcome from the relevant department or the Ministry, we are organizing a peaceful and lawful protest to share these concerns with the wider public.
We have reached out to trade unions, NGOs, and other community organizations for their support.
We are calling for understanding, fairness, and timely action.
Your support is vital to ensure that all residents and workers are treated with clarity and respect.
