Following the recent death of a dear friend Maria. Her son Alex is now in jepody of being removed from his family  home. We as a community feel this would be so detrimental to Alex , especially after the trauma and shock of losing his mum. The house is within walking distance to his school, the park where he plays with friends, all the normality in his life will be taken away.

Alex is currently in remission from  cancer, he is still having regular consultation with the hospital, we need to ensure he has minimal stress to ensure his full recovery from this awful illness..

Alex's father Andrew is currently living in the home and looking after Alex, supporting him best he can. He has notified the  First choice housing of Maria's death within 24 hours, as required. He was issued an eviction notice with the same 24 hours, to be actioned by the 18th March.

This family are trying to come to terms with their loss, arrange a funeral and manage all Maria's affairs, it would be heart breaking if they then  have  to explain to a little boy that he has to leave the home which holds all his mother's memories one week after her death.

As a community, we are hoping First choice homes will see compassion in such extenuating circumstances, and allow Alex to stay in this home he shared with his mother Maria, and be cared for by his father Andrew.
