Today, on India's 74th Independence Day, the Prime Minister spoke about access to menstrual hygiene and affordable period products. This sets a commendable precedent for other leaders, governments and people in power to prioritize menstrual health.

74% of the women do not have access to menstrual hygiene facilities. 23 million girls drop out of school due to lack of menstrual hygiene. Lakhs of tonnes of menstrual waste are dumped openly which affect health of sanitation workers, land, water and environment. It is a multi-faceted crisis. It lies at the intersection of gender, health, hygiene, environment, education, poverty. It is crucial to be addressed.

So, let us come together to act and demand for sustainable solutions.
