Liverpool are currently on an six-game unbeaten run, with four wins and two draws helping the Reds to fifth place in the EPL table. It's a considerable improvement from the last month, where Liverpool found themselves as low as twelfth place. The latest win came on Saturday, December 20th, against Tottenham Hotspur in London.
However, the win was far from comfortable. Despite Spurs being reduced to 10 men by minute thirty-seven, and 9 men with eight minutes to go, Liverpool found themselves losing possession everywhere on the field and looking more likely to drop points than hold on to the result. Had the referee not blown the final whistle, Tottenham probably would've equalized while having two players less.
Once again, this highlights Arne Slot's poor game management skills, with previous exhibits of the same problem coming against Leeds, Chelsea, and Manchester United. Spurs scored from their first corner of the game, leaving Liverpool desperately floundering to keep the ball in the final stages, and the Liverpool midfield looked leggy and tired despite playing against two men less. Yet, despite Liverpool continuously suffering the same problems game after game, Slot has refused to change anything about Liverpool's set-piece strategy or game control plans.
Whether due to ignorance or stubbornness, a manager who refuses to solve obvious problems is a ticking time bomb just waiting to blow up in Liverpool's face. 43 people are already on record that they agree, but it will take more than that to push FSG towards decisive action.
