TAS Police Commissioner, Darren Hine, announced an "independent" review after covert listening devices were left running, illegally, at Risdon Prison for two months. He's already pre-empted one finding, saying police didn't listen to other meetings. And he appointed former Solicitor General, Michael O'Farrell SC, who PROVED his lack of independence in his dismissive letter to Eve Ash 16 May 2017 (5 days after she, with Robert Richter QC, and Colin McLaren presented a report with new evidence to the SG, Premier and Ag AG, supporting Sue's innocence and an inadequate police investigation and seeking an Independent Inquiry). O'Farrell rejected assertions that Tasmania Police had acted improperly, “Any suggestion that Tasmania Police are somehow incapable of investigating matters of this nature is entirely rejected,” he said. “The state has every confidence in Tasmania Police and its ability to investigate matters raised in this report.”

But we now know that lawyer Jeff Thompson was at that exact time targeted by police investigation because of his involvement in the Neill-Fraser case... and police conducted this unlawful surveillance. Thankfully lawyers and politicians in TAS are speaking out, like brave Kristie Johnston MP "stinks of incompetence and cover-up!"
