As a VF Plus candidate representing the communities of Capital Park and Gezina, I feel a responsibility to listen to local residents and raise their concerns.

The proposed relocation of people from the Melgisedek Centre to a temporary tent settlement in Capital Park has raised serious concerns about community safety, public order, infrastructure and the character of the area.

I believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and provided with safe accommodation. At the same time, the residents of Capital Park, Gezina and surrounding communities also deserve to feel safe and to have their concerns properly considered.

I am supporting this petition because I believe Tshwane must find a fair, safe and sustainable solution that protects the dignity of Melgisedek residents while also protecting the wellbeing and legitimate interests of existing communities.

We are asking the City of Tshwane to properly consult affected communities, consider viable alternatives and ensure that any relocation is carefully planned and adequately supported.
