I have a few things to pass to all my supporters, first I spent a few hours today analyzing security measures put in place for schools in the last several years, they do provide some protection, and can have law enforcement arrive on sight much quicker than normal, some of these current measures can even protect most school members, however that’s the key word, MOST, not all. I saw security measures which consist of several security guards that can contain the situation quickly, another measure that allows a security person to allow the other person to enter the school as long as they don’t seem threatening, then allows them inside to run a background check, hands them a visitor tag, and allows them inside, however the problem with this security is that nothing is keeping suspect from pulling out a weapon while he is being given a tag to take out the security, and just because you have no previous crimes doesn’t mean you won’t suddenly go crazy  one day. Cameras are great, but only if you use them correctly for the correct situation. A crazed individual does not care if he is being watched while he is inside a school adding to his victim count, the bottom line is that these current measures are there to significantly reduce casualties, and not to completely keep the threat from entering the building, once the building has been infiltrated, there will be casualties in the hallways at the very minimum, we must keep in mind that school staff and students will not realize there is a threat amongst them  until at the bullets start flying, with all this being said, we need a plan that will keep threats outside, these current plans also seem to forget that a threat sometimes comes from inside. These current measures do make things more challenging for an attacker, but that’s it, we need to keep threat outside with next to impossible or right down impossible odds to enter a building, I  very confidently believe we can accomplish this with the plan stated in my petition.
