OPPOSITION TO PLANS FOR 265 THE RIDGEWAY, NORTH HARROW, HA2 7DA

The Issue

THE REVISED DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION FOR 178 HOMES ON THIS SMALL SITE WILL STILL ADVERSELY AFFECT THIS ALREADY BUILT UP RESIDENTIAL AREA.  SEE PROPOSAL www.265theridgeway.co.uk                                                                      

TWENTY YEARS AGO THE LAND WAS SOLD TO THE EXCLUSIVE BRETHREN, A RELIGIOUS GROUP WITH CHARITABLE STATUS.    THE SCHEME WAS SUPPORTED BY LOCAL GROUPS AND RESIDENTS AS IT WAS TO BE USED SOLELY FOR PRAYER MEETINGS WITH ADEQUATE PARKING PROVISION WITHIN THE SITE.                                                                                

THE BRETHREN'S PLACE OF WORSHIP WAS BUILT AND THE IMPACT ON THE AREA WAS MINIMAL.  THE ‘BRETHREN’ HAVE NOW MOVED FROM THE AREA AND THE SITE IS UP FOR SALE.  

A PLANNING APPLICATION FOR 195 HOMES, MOSTLY ONE BEDROOM FLATS IS TO BE PRESENTED TO HARROW COUNCIL SHORTLY.

THE PROPOSED SIZE OF DEVELOPMENT COULD POTENTIALLY HOUSE UP TO 500 RESIDENTS WHICH WILL CAUSE A STRAIN ON THE ALREADY OVERBURDENED LOCAL MEDICAL AND EDUCATION FACILITIES.

THERE IS VERY LITTLE PARKING PROPOSED WITHIN THE SITE WHICH WILL BE TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE SURROUNDING RESIDENTIAL ROADS.  AN INCREASE IN TRAFFIC WOULD CAUSE DELAYS AND MAKE JOINING FROM SMALLER ROADS NEARBY MORE HAZARDOUS DUE TO HIGHER NUMBERS OF PARKED VEHICLES.  THE RIDGEWAY IS ALREADY EXTREMELY BUSY AND DIFFICULT TO FILTER ONTO FROM ADJOINING ROADS GIVING A GREATER CHANCE OF ACCIDENTS.

THE PROVISION OF ACCOMMODATION ON THE KODAK SITE COMBINED WITH THE BUILDING OF MANY HUNDREDS OF FLATS IN HARROW MAKES THIS DEVELOPMENT TOTALLY WITHOUT JUSTIFICATION.

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED STRONGLY OBJECT TO THE POSSIBILITY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF 265 THE RIDGEWAY AND URGE HARROW COUNCIL TO USE IT’S BEST EFFORTS TO PREVENT THIS DEVELOPMENT AND IN LIGHT OF CONCERNS WE ASK THAT PERMISSION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT IS REFUSED.
