hi im Mariah i am a junior in Brockport highschool. I have been in the Brockport district since i was in 5th grade and up until 8th grade i thought brockport was the best thing ever. In the middle school you are constantly labeled based on how you act. And as i thought that was bad it only got worse as i moved up into high school. My freshman year went ok besides the harrasment and bullying but as i got to 10th grade it only got worse. Not only was i still being harassed and bullied but turned down by teachers and office people . I was constantly told to just worry about my grades because they weren’t good but never once was my safety concerns an issue in their eyes. Now im a junior in high school and this has been the worst year yet! I am constantly still harrased and bullied and yet im still turn down but it cant be because my grades are bad because they’re not. I had an issue with a group of girls for weeks on end and i was constantly reporting it but once again i was told to go back to class and work on my grades. One day the girls decided it would be fun to make it worse and as i was in the office all day i was still told to go to class but how? How am i supposed to walk in the halls and have to watch my back so i didnt get jumped i couldn’t. That same day i stayed after and as i went to get onto the bus i was told i was needed inside so i got back off the bus and went in to ask about it i was told that they didn’t hear anything about and they asked me if i wanted to check i said no im good and that i just wanted to go home. As i said that one of the girls decided to mimic me so i turned around and asked her why and what was her problem. She then proceeded to come running at me and decided to start pushing me around and screeming in my face. I didn’t touch her or anything all i said was no i didnt to respond to what she was yelling at me for as two adults pulled her away i went and got back one the bus to get my bag and my sister i told my sister that we were leaving as I got to the front of the building, one of the principles came over and told us to go inside so we did and as we got inside, he started asking us about what was happening. What caused it and everything. I had told him that I didn’t put hands on her and the most I said to her was no I didn’t and I told him that I had asked her what her issue was. He then proceeded to try to tell my mom when she got to the school that if I hadn’t gotten off after school bus, then it would’ve never happened but mind you I was told by the bus driver that I was needed inside. over the weekend my mom had gotten a call from the school saying that I was going to have two days of in school suspension because apparently they were switching my after school bus. But mind you I was never told that my after school bus was going to be switched not by my bus driver not by the afterschool bus driver, not buy a principal )i reached out to him and told him that I was never told I had a new after school bus so I got on that after school bus thinking that that was still the same after school bus I was supposed to take. me and my mom ended up talking to the principal and they decided to drop my suspension. But what I still don’t understand to this day is that the girl that I got into an altercation with got the same amount of suspension days as a child that would get for simply skipping class. this is just one example out of many that I could give you guys. Outside of harassment and bullying and issues with the staff. There’s also issues with the cleanness of our school. there is mold growing in our bathrooms our water in our bathrooms turn yellow as you’re washing your hands. I have personally found a bug in my yogurt, and I have also had mold on my food, but not only that we have physical mice and rats that run around our school. For my first update this is all I’m going to talk about for now just so that way there’s a better understanding of what truly happens.
