Stop E-cigarette Usage

Stop E-cigarette Usage
The Issue
Based on the rapid rise of youth use of e-cigarettes in the U.S., including a 900 percent increase among high school students from 2011 to 2015 we called for change.
There is a substantial number of teens buying e-cigarettes in the state of New York due to the fact that the age for buying them is as low as 18 years old. Because of the low age restriction, numerous teens are engaging in e-cigrette usage which is why we are urging to increase that restriction to 21 years old. We also wanted a specific sin tax for e-cigarettes of $5.85 which would be the same as the sin tax on regular cigarettes. These laws would save teens their health and a great deal of money.
Laws:
- Sale/distribution of e-cigarettes or liquid nicotine to people under age 21 prohibited.
- Sale/distribution of e-cigarettes or liquid nicotine to people will have a $5.85 sin tax on them.
