Free Kentucky Court Clerk Kim Davis from jail!

The Issue

A Kentucky Court Clerk, Kim Davis, was taken into federal custody today for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in Rowan County, Kentucky. According to Davis, doing so would violate her religious beliefs, For Davis, it is a "Heaven or Hell issue" and a "fight worth fighting".  Federal Judge David Bunning says she will remain behind bars until she agrees to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. Bunning is using his power to try and bully Mrs. Davis into wavering on her beliefs and issuing the licenses. While he could have simply fined her for not complying, he chose to jail her until she does what he wants. Evidently, the federal government is now in the business of incarcerating Christians who stand up for what they believe. If we do not stop this now, where will it end? Is anyone safe from the big bully that our government has become?

I am calling on all Christians to demand that Judge Bunning release Mrs. Davis immediately! Kim Davis has stood firm on her beliefs, even after being jailed, and we now need to stand with her and stand for for what is right in the eyes of God. Mark 12:17 says Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. The problem with people who like to hide behind that scripture as proof that we must blindly obey, is that Marriage doesn't belong to Caesar (the government). Marriage has always, and will always, belong to God. In addition to that, Acts 5:29 says "We ought to obey God rather than men." If the government goes against God's word, it is our obligation as Christians to stand up and disobey that government. On June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court acted as the Supreme Being and decided that five men evidently were far more wise than all those who have came before them, and should be allowed to change the definition of marriage that has stood since the beginning of time. The problem is, the Supreme Court is not a legislative branch. They cannot make laws. In November 2014 however, the voters in the state of Kentucky came together and passed a constitutional amendment with a 75% majority, stating that only a marriage between a man and a woman would be valid and recognized. Mrs. Davis was elected by these people, not the federal government. The federal government has been given way too much power, and it is time we stand up as Christians and as American Citizens, and say "Enough is enough! We will no longer be bullied!" Please consider signing this petition to Judge Bunning demanding that Mrs. Davis be released and no longer bullied for standing up for her religious convictions.
