Thanks for supporting Aboriginal kids' right to education in First Language and Culture. A lot has been happening at Children’s Ground since you showed your support for our petition, which over 80,000 people have signed! Keep reading to see how you can support our vision for First Nations education reform.

Next week, the 5th Utyerre Apanpe Network (First Nations Educators') Forum will gather at Ross River in Central Australia. Across four days, over 80 educators from many Nations will gather to join their voices and vision on First Nations pedagogy, curriculum, standards, and practices in our learning environments underpinned by culture, language, Country and a First Nations workforce to deliver it.

One of the Children’s Ground founding Elders, Dr. M.K. Turner OAM, recently passed. Those in Central Australia are mourning her loss and celebrating her incredible impact across Australia. Utyerre Apanpe has become an opportunity to honour and recognise a significant figure in the movement for First Nations-led education. Read more about Dr. M.K.’s life and legacy on our website.

“Everyone is always saying that we need to make our kids ready for school, but why can’t we make schools ready for our children?” – Dr. M.K. Turner OAM

At Children's Ground, we are seeing children continue to achieve fantastic outcomes as they learn, grow and strengthen their connection First Language and Culture. We are following best-practice evidence, which shows that children learn better and show improved academic achievement when they are learning in their First Language and Culture, and when their learning process reflects their identity and worldview. Help support our work by donating to Children’s Ground.
