To answer questions:
1. How many signatures does it take before it’s submitted to the FBI?
The petition has been open about a week, and we have reached 15,000 signatures. In addition, there have been almost 102,000 views of the petition with Chance’s information. There isn’t a specific signature goal, however we’d like to let the petition run another week or so and will provide the FBI with the update. We will not close it until Chance is found or the FBI becomes involved. This petition helps to show the strong community support behind the cause and we want the FBI to know they are needed. Right now we have enough signatures to account for the total populations of Gering, Bayard, Moorcroft and Edgemont. This does not mean all residents have signed, but is just stated for effect in number of signatures obtained in a week. Wow! We have been in contact with a lead position at the FBI and they are very aware of the petition support thus far. The petition can’t force them to become involved, but helps show support for them getting involved. It is another tool in addition to the phone calls many of you are making. We don’t know what happened to Chance. We just know we need help finding him.
2. What happens to the money we donate when we sign the petition?
When you sign the petition, Change.Org may ask for donations and offers to show the petition to people who may support it for those donations. This money doesn’t go to anyone affiliated with Chance or the FBI. It is the website asking for donations to keep their sites up and running. We aren’t asking for donations on this platform - we only ask for your signature and a share or two.
Thank you all. Your efforts are not going unnoticed. Happy 26th birthday Chance.
