Throughout history and around the world criminals have covered their faces when committing a crime. In the old west train robbers would cover their faces with a bandanna. Later came the use of ski masks, Halloween masks, etc, etc, etc. Now it would appear (at least based upon current national and world news) that criminals have begun to use the burqa and niqab to conceal their identity while committing armed robbery. The latest example of this would be the rash of robberies across Philadelphia. All were committed by two people wearing burqas and have been caught on video.
Most states currently have laws on the books that prohibit the wearing of masks or any other face covering in public. Therefore we feel that new laws should be passed and existing laws amended that will make it illegal to wear a burqa, niqab, or any other covering that hides a person's identity, in any public place, or upon any private property without first having obtained written consent from the owner of said property. This law should also apply to any photograph taken for the use of identification such as a drivers license, school I.D. card, state issued I.D. etc. A first offense should be a class “A” Misdemeanor.
