Since the start of this petition Autistic organisations from across the world have come forward to add their weight to it. The Autistic Self Advocacy Network of the USA have been Advocating against the use of Electric shock therapies and the existence of the Judge Rotenberg Centre for years. They are excited by the support of the International Community and today, ASAN have contacted The Autistic Cooperative and asked to be added to the petition also. The whole International Autistic Community is asking the FDA to step in and prevent Autistic people from harm. In the UK this week, a report by the Westminster Autism Commission into the use of harmful interventions for Autism has concluded that Legislation needs to be fully investigated in order to protect the welfare of Autistic people and protect our human rights. The USA must consider the same, starting with the ending of contingent electric shock treatment and the closure of JRC and institutions like it.
