Spread the word!

We're going to have monthly meetings of Friends of Markham Hill, every third Wednesday from 6-7 at my house.

Our next meeting is Wednesday Oct 17. We'll have a lot to discuss as we recover from the City Council's rezonings of Markham Hill and plan our way forward.

I will continue collecting email addresses for our special Friends of Markham Hill listserv so we can quit using the Univ Hts listserve.

If no room in my driveway, please park at Rob and Nee Karas' place (1666) across the street or at my brother's place (1641) beside me. I live at 1663 W Halsell Rd. My phone is 410-674-8440.

We will keep each other informed of what is happening with the City concerning Markham Hill, plan our strategy to limit development and preserve as much of the woods and natural habitat as possible, and brainstorm how we can secure all the Markham Hill property in order to make it a nature and wildlife preserve. In addition, we will discuss and strategize how to help Fayetteville as a whole protect and grow its existing urban forest and green space in order to prevent their destruction by the current trend of overzealous development. This is harming our older neighborhoods as well.

I'm excited about what we can accomplish by working together.

We are still gathering signatures on our Save Markham Hill petition!

Sincerely,
Lisa Orton
