Inside the Industry

Fashion: It is an evolving and changing industry all throughout. Fashion is a form of art wherein you can express yourself through the clothes that you wear. We dress according to our own personal styles, to the colors that we want. Fashion is all about you yourself, and it can be a powerful tool for how you wish people to perceive you. Fashion is being unique and creative and all that matters is you give your own statement for who you are.

In the fashion industry, it is about having your own identity. That's why all brands have their own strategies on how to be distinctive. Moreover, when it comes to the fashion runways, the clothes have to be worn by models so that the clothes will be seen better and clearer. 

As a Fashion Design Student

I love fashion, I love everything that is related to fashion. I really admire the designers' clothes being presented on the runway. But the way I see it, in every fashion show that I watch, it is always tall, slim girl whose walking. And I think that part in the fashion industry is what concerns me. I know that it is not just always about the glitz and glamour that we all see outside. 

With that said, today's society tends to come up with a viewpoint that fashion is just for slim girls because that is what they always see. We either see slim bodies in the billboards, runway shows, even in social media. We always think that a certain type of dress is only suitable for you if you have this certain body type.

How can we improve the situation?

Fashion plays an important role in influencing body image. One thing that I want to make this petition is to be reachable to the higher people in the fashion industry.  It would be so amazing to see the natural sizes of bodies, all types of frames in a runway, and not just the "Ideal type" of a body we always perceive. Not all people have the same type of body as models. I believe that each and every one of us has unique characteristics in our very own way. I just want to prove in this petition the assurance that no matter body type an individual has, he/she can be confident to show it to the world. And since fashion is powerful in this type of manner, I believe that they will make a huge impact for a change in this kind of perception (Ideal body type). 

Body Positivity and Acceptance of All Types of Bodies

As a person who's really into fashion,  the reason why I fell in love with it is that I can wear what I want because I am confident with who I am and most importantly, I've learned to accept my flaws. Just like everyone else, I wanted to be accepted for who I am. Fashion is a great way to creatively express yourself, to inspire others on your own story, to influence people in a good way. But let's not discourage other people just because they do not meet the "body standards". The only thing we need to do is to accept all types of bodies and spread body positivity. We all have our own stories, let's continue to inspire and influence each other in the most unique way!.
