Save the Hooversville Family Dollar

The Issue

Currently, in Hooversville, we have the Family Dollar Store. About last week, we received word that our store would be closing. Family Dollar is our only store in our community, besides Country Bargains. They're two completely different stores, and they carry different things. Family Dollar is open until 10 pm, whereas Country Bargains open until 7 pm. There are times when we all need something at 9 pm, and we have to go to the Dollar Store to get it. This Family Dollar in precisely the cleanest Family Dollar I have personally been in. It has impacted our community in a multitude of ways. Losing this store would be a tremendous loss to our community, we wouldn't have a place to shop anymore.

Our community is small, and there's not much here, this business brings something that we didn't have. Without it here, we aren't left with much. We have a bank, a bar, and a grocery store with very limited selection. (We love Country Bargains, but what they don't have, the dollar store does.)

In addition, this store serves many elderly people who aren't able to drive to Richland or Somerset to do their shopping. Closing this store only cuts back what is made available to them. This community’spopulation of elderly are underserved, and they need somewhere to shop as well. This wouldn't only hurt the elderly population, this would also hurt the disabled people who live in the commons across the street. Some of the people who live in the commons building don't drive, and with this store being open it makes something available to those who can't drive as well as the elderly.

This store has opened up a variety to the community, we have options of what to buy, and now that's being taken from us. The workers there at the Dollar Store would also lose their jobs, this isn't fair to them at all, these ladies are people from right here in our community. The ladies that work down there have become family. They always have a smile on their faces. I'm desperately asking the People of Hooversville, and surrounding communities that shop here at our Family Dollar, to please sign this petition. We want this store here, and we're not going down without a fight.
