Original anonymous complaint read- “free ranging chickens at above address”- the township is not grandfathering us in. They have a very rough ordinance that went into place in 1976. We still feel this is pre-existing non-conforming thought. This is a historic home that has house rural animals for centuries. One other thing I want to point out is, when the home was transferred 3 years ago into my husbands name we were issued occupancy permits with chickens and ducks on the property. If all it comes down to is forking over 300$ for a variance to keep our chickens then so be it. Our fight is still not over though- we need that variance. The more people there, the more our township will realize, they need to change these codes. Our township has way to many other problems on their hands.
