DWP State on Carers Allowance 20/09/2022

I just want to draw your attention to the 8th word on the first line “SOME” or indeed the final sentence “part of a range of support”.

I don’t get any other support, in fact as a single parent caring for two SEND children I am only allowed to claim for financial support (£76 per week) for 1 child.

I get no respite because despite one or the other of them having been through suicidal periods, episodes of aggression and violent behaviour towards myself, threatening my life, being unable to leave the house due to crippling anxiety and worse I have been told they aren't severe enough to meet the criteria for me to have respite…In my eyes that isn’t support and I am not alone in this. 

Carers are neglected, forgotten about and uncared for and despite all of this we keep showing up because if we don't no one will!
