Ban the sale of Confederate flag merchandise at The Addison County Fair and Field Days!

Fair and Field Days is a family friendly, fun, educational, and delightful way to spend our last days of summer! Did you know that there is a vendor who sells mainly Confederate flag merchandise at the fair? The Confederate flag is widely understood as a racist symbol used readily by white supremacists and others who do not believe in racial equality. Many people buy merchandise with The Confederate flag on it without understanding what it means to anyone of color in this country. It means the KKK, Neo-Nazis, and the dark history of lynching and segregation in the American South. Both white and black alike are offended by this flag and think it has no place at our amazing county fair! A group of concerned citizens from the Unitarian Universalist Society in Middlebury will be meeting with the Fair and Field Days Board in August to talk about this issue. We would love to have your signature so that we can emphasize that our ENTIRE Addison County community stands against the sale and presentation of The Confederate flag at our fair. Many county fairs around the country have already taken this stand. Shouldn't Addison County and Vermont join them? Sign the petition now, and pass it on! Thank you!
