Bourne & Shepherd - the legendary studio standing tall since 1863 at S.N.Banerjee Road Kolkata has finally closed down on 16/6/2016. It lost a lot of  its glorious collection of photographs in the fire of 1991. Now  loosing a legal battle with LIC over possession of the building, the octogenarian proprietor Sri Jayant Gandhi finally rolled its shutter down in the late evening of last Thursday with no mourners visible nearby. But those who love Kolkata, who love to see history preserved with all its glory & are in love with the word 'photography' would love to see LIC taking care of the dying heritage. CAN NOT LIC TAKE CHARGE OF THE SITUATION AND CONVERT THE BUILDING TO A MUSEUM which will speak of the glorious past. This will only glorify LIC itself to the world.
