Great news for our schools!  Installation for the security cameras will start this winter break.  13 to 18 interior and exterior security cameras at each of our elementary schools and middle schools!  This is just the beginning!

After nearly a year and a half, I can finally say that conviction and persistence paid off.  After nearly a year and a half of not feeling heard, I was finally vindicated.  

As many of you know, on the second day of Kindergarten, my son was involved in a situation at his school that could have been prevented by modern building security measures.  Being that we are in a large district with many schools, some older than others, implementing any type of new standards is a very large and lengthy task. 

I spoke time and time again to the school board and to anyone who would listen about the importance of modern building security.  Yet no matter how many times I spoke, or to who, it seemed as if my pleas fell on deaf ears. 

However, tonight I was shocked. Our school district, after undergoing a comprehensive facilities analysis, approved updated building security measures consistent with those I advocated for.  After nearly a year and a half, my voice served to facilitate massive progress district-wide. 

As my Son now prepares for his second semester of First grade, he and his siblings can one day be proud that their Momma wouldn’t shut up or back down and she made their schools a safer place.
