The Issue

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has been a beacon of hope for many South Africans, as it diligently works to unearth corruption, criminality, and political interference within our country's criminal justice system. It has shone a light on aspects of our governance that need significant reform and has offered us a glimpse into how deep and widespread these issues really are.

The Commission has brought to light serious allegations involving organised crime and misconduct within some of our most trusted institutions. It has become an essential tool in untangling the web of interference and corruption that plagues our justice system, jeopardising the fundamental rights of all South Africans. Multiple witnesses are still being heard, further evidence continues to emerge, and numerous investigations and prosecutions are actively under pursuit. The comprehensive nature of this inquiry means that cutting it short could severely undermine its findings and impede ongoing investigations.

It's imperative that the President understands the significance of extending the Commission beyond its current end date of 31 August 2026. The Madlanga Commission needs time to fully complete its mandate, gather all relevant testimonies, and follow the evidence wherever it leads. South Africans deserve a thorough investigation that provides transparency and accountability and prevents future occurrences of such significant misconduct.

The extension of the Madlanga Commission is crucial for upholding the integrity of our justice system and ensuring that those responsible for corruption and criminality are held accountable. By affording the Commission the necessary time to finish its critical work, we uphold our right to justice and a future free from the shackles of corruption.

Join us in calling on President Cyril Ramaphosa to support the extension of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. Sign this petition to demand a thorough and complete investigation that fosters a new era of transparency in South Africa's criminal justice system.
