I have been advised by a supporter that if I smile more I will increase support for the campaign for an express airport bus service between Glasgow Airport and East Renfrewshire. I am happy to give it a go.

We are three days into the campaign and we are off to the flying start I hoped for. We need new supporters every day if we are going to persuade the powers that be that such a service would be viable. I believe it will be and I think it will add to the quality of life here in East Renfrewshire.

Not all are in favour. Private hire and taxi drivers have shared understandable concerns. I don't think they need to worry. There will always be a need for such a service. An airport express bus will generate a new type of business for them and, of course, a bus service with fixed times will not suit all. On a less understandable front, I also received a request for a boxing match from a retired car salesman (in his 70s!). I don't think the used car sector need worry about the airport express either.

We can achieve this, but we need to maintain the momentum over the next few months, so please keep sharing.
