Extend the closure of Wigan UTC
The Issue
On 4/4/19 we was informed that Wigan UTC was closing it’s doors in August 2019 despite the glowing ofsted reports !
No thought for the students there No thought of the year 10’s progressing to year 11 to sit their gcse’s No thought for the year 12’s to finish off their education in year 13
pupils at Wigan UTC ,are all local kids and are there for a reason, they was taken out of a main stream school and placed into Wigan UTC for different reasons.
These children dropped a lot of main subjects like history. Geography. Art etc as utc said that they are not needed, and instead took up alternative subjects as engineering. Business management. Health and social. Sports science. They was promised to flourish and to leave with a-c passes and B TECS
apprenticeships and Job offers was promised -all now not going to be fulfilled.
We will not rejoin our children into a main stream school they left a main stream school for a reason ...... plus the main stream schools work at a different curriculum to Wigan UTC so the kids would have to do a years worth of work plus study for exams in a matter of months !!!!!
We do not want to move our children to bolton or Warrington utc at such a crucial time of their educational needs. If we wanted them to go to bolton or Warrington we would of joined them there and not wigan !
We did not sign up for bolton Warrington or Liverpool utc
We are asking for a 12 months extension on the closure so the pupils can sit their gcse exams, and finish their education which is stressful enough without adding a change to schools , teachers , friends , a new town to it !
Northern schools trust and the education departments only care about profit They don’t care what a success Wigan UTC is, they don’t care about its glowing ofsted reports it has. They don’t care and won’t listen to how much it’s students love it and how devasted they are.
This is the tenth utc academy it’s decided it’s to simply close down and move on to its next project !!!!
Have the decency to at least let the kids finish their education and not close the doors part way through it. Despite all the promises it made to us !
