To every parent, educator, and ally who has supported this campaign: thank you. Today, we have received massive national validation for everything we have been shouting from the rooftops about Derby City Council's SEND operations.

For months, the Council has tried to tell us that our cases are "isolated" or that the agonizing delays are just administrative bottlenecks. We knew the truth. Now, the rest of the country does, too.

🚨 ITV News Investigation: Council Staff Instructed to Delay SEND Support

This morning, ITV News published an explosive report based on whistleblower claims, exposing the exact culture of gatekeeping and deflection we have been fighting. A council caseworker has gone on the public record, detailing how managers would actively instruct staff to delay access to SEND support and even joke about denying vulnerable children the help they legally require.

How This Validates Our Fight in Derby

When you read the ITV article, it will feel sickeningly familiar. This isn't just happening "somewhere else"; this is the exact playbook we exposed in our "Architecture of Deflection" dossier right here in Derby.

The national whistleblower’s account perfectly mirrors the forensic documentary evidence we’ve already dragged out of our own Local Authority:

  • The "Try Our Luck" Strategy: We already proved with leaked internal emails that Derby SEND management explicitly instructed caseworkers to "try our luck" at Tribunal. They force families into exhausting 12 to 18-month legal backlogs, multiple times for each child, fully knowing the Council possesses "no legal defence," purely to delay spending money.
  • Coercing Schools to Cut Funding: We discussed school meeting minutes proving that our Head of Service convened closed-door meetings to actively coerce Headteachers into dropping £20,000 funding requests so they would fit the Council's cheaper budget ceilings.
  • The Secret "High Needs Matrix": We proved they use an un-governed, un-audited algorithm to arbitrarily cap funding, ignoring the life-safety recommendations of their own Educational Psychologists.

The Inside View: Derby's Own Whistleblowers

The ITV story highlights the toxic culture cultivated within SEND departments to enforce these cuts. We already know this is happening in Derby.

As some of you will know, several current & former employees of the Derby City Council's SEND team reached out to me directly. They confirmed that staff had internally raised concerns because they felt service users weren't being put first. They warned us that the corruption was "next level" and that the intense pressure from the imported executive team was actively harming good staff members.

We also have local educators on our side. A Derby SENDCO with over 10 years of experience reached out to us to confirm that management's aggressive cost-saving tactics have destroyed their school's ethos, resulting in severe staff burnout and formal grievances against the directorate.

They thought we wouldn't talk to each other. They thought we wouldn't figure out the system.

What We Do Next

The syndicate that engineered this crisis -who transplanted these tactics from Brent to Derby under the guise of an aggressive austerity programme - relies on us getting too exhausted to fight. They want us to play "Tribunal Chicken" until we break.

But the walls are closing in on them. The DfE Vulnerable Children's Unit is investigating. Local councillors have referred the matter to the council's internal audit team, and we've engaged the council's external audit team, who both have our evidence of public money being wasted on unwinnable tribunals. And now, the national press is ripping the lid off the exact culture of denial we've spent months exposing.

Please share the ITV article. Share this petition update. Send it to your local parent groups, your schools, and your local councillors. Let them know we see exactly what they are doing, and we are not going anywhere.

Hold the line.
