We have reached 2,150 signatures and over 1,000 shares, and while this is an important milestone, it is not enough.

If we truly want a safer Ontario and a better Canada, we cannot sit back and hope someone else will do the work for us. Change only happens when the public demands accountability. Now is that time.

For years, people before us have tried to push for reform of the sex offender registry, only to be shut down by those in power. Courts and governments continue to tell Canadians that keeping the registry hidden somehow protects society, yet the reality is that secrecy protects offenders, not our children, not our communities, and not the victims who live with lifelong consequences.

The message being sent to the public is deeply troubling. It shows that predators deserve more protection than the people they harm.

These laws should not exist to shield institutions or preserve comfort at the top. They should exist to protect the very people who placed our leaders in power in the first place. When the justice system repeatedly shows leniency toward sexual offenders, Canadians are left asking an uncomfortable but necessary question: Who is this system really serving?

We are not asking for revenge. We are asking for transparency, accountability, and public safety, values that should never be controversial.

Bringing the sex offender registry into the public eye is about preventing harm before it happens, empowering families with information, and acknowledging that victims deserve more than silence and excuses.

We are shining light where there has been darkness for far too long, and this time, that light will not be put out.
