Restore Voting Right to Probation/Parolees in Wisconsin

Restore Voting Right to Probation/Parolees in Wisconsin
The Issue
EXPO (EX-Incarcerated People Organizing) is organizing to restore the voting rights of the approximately 66,125 WI residents who currently cannot vote due to being probation or parole. State Senator Lena Taylor is currently proposing legislation that would restore voting rights to individuals upon release from prison.
Voting is a right of citizenship. You do not lose your citizenship upon criminal conviction, you lose your civil rights. Furthermore, incarcerated individuals are counted as part of the communities they are incarcerated in which provides those communities with elected representatives and funding based on population even though they are not from that community and not allowed to vote for that representation. 23 states in the last 10 years have made changes to their voting laws to allow for an end to Jail Gerrymandering. EXPO seeks to make WI the next state to do this.
EXPO is driven by Directly Impacted People & their families. Our members provide support to each other and organize to change Wisconsin’s unjust penal system. We receive support from family members of currently and formerly incarcerated people and allies who have not experienced incarceration. EXPO has active chapters in Milwaukee, Madison, and Eau Claire and we are developing chapters in Racine, Kenosha, Beloit, Green Bay, the Fox Cities, and Wausau. EXPO is a project of WISDOM, a statewide organization that links faith communities to work for justice.
Please sign our petition & let the State of WI know that YOU support RESTORATION OF VOTING RIGHTS NOW!
