Express Entry applicants (Federal Skilled Workers and Provincial Nominee Programs) transferred to the Montreal Visa Office are experiencing unprecedented delays. While other visa offices, such as Sydney and Ottawa, are processing applications received as late as October 2024, applicants with Application Receipt Dates (AORs) in July 2024 from Montreal are still awaiting Final Decisions (FDs).

This significant backlog is causing considerable hardship for applicants who have been patiently waiting for their immigration goals to be realized. Many applicants have reached out to the visa office multiple times with inquiries, but progress on their files remains stagnant.

We urge the Canadian immigration authorities to prioritize the processing of applications at the Montreal Visa Office and address the factors contributing to these excessive delays. This situation is creating significant uncertainty and anxiety for applicants who have invested considerable time, effort, and financial resources in the immigration process.
