Hello!

First, thank you to everyone who has signed the petition, shared it, and taken the time to contact Seattle city leaders. Because of your support, we reached over 1,400 signatures in just two weeks, now approaching 1,500, an incredible show of community engagement.

I want to be very clear: this is working. The City Council has heard us and is actively discussing the project and many of the concerns raised by the community. That said, this is not the time to stop. If you have not yet sent a letter to the Mayor’s Office, City Councilmembers, or the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department, I strongly encourage you to do so. Contact details and sample letters are included below.

These letters truly matter. City leaders are reading them and paying close attention to individual stories and concerns. Your message can be just a few sentences or as detailed as you would like; every voice helps, and your story matters.

Before starting the petition, I also reached out directly to city officials. Since then, through those channels, I have learned that there is renewed focus on this project at the city level. After conversations with both Councilmember Dan Strauss and Councilmember Debora Juarez’s Chief of Staff, it became clear that some of those overseeing the project were previously unaware of the full scope of the pool access challenges. As a result, new stakeholders are now taking a deeper look at the project.

What was outlined at the November community meetings is beginning to shift, and there is real hope that this process could yield a larger pool better suited to our community and its growing aquatic programs.

Please continue sharing information about this effort. Anyone interested in meeting or having a deeper conversation is welcome to reach out. My email is included below. I want to learn more about the specific concerns and pain points related to the future of Green Lake Pool.

Thank you again for your continued advocacy and support.

Best Regards,

Allie Bacharach
