SU Convocation: The next step in our campaign for change.

Dear SU graduate/ academic/ retired academic

Thank you for signing our petition in support of a consultative, well-governed Convocation Executive.

Since launching the petition a month ago, 4923 people have signed, which gives us great hope that large numbers of Stellenbosch University Convocation members (graduates, full-time academics, and retired academics) are becoming more conscious of their power to effect change at SU via their vote as a Convocation member. 

In recent weeks a group of progressive volunteer graduates and academics have been working together to gather other grads/ academics who support a consultative, well-governed Convocation Executive and ongoing transformation at SU. This grouping has started canvassing under the name #SUNewConvoRise. 

There are some very important meetings and elections coming up at which your vote will be needed in order to ensure the Convocation Executive elected is made up of a diverse set of voices who are committed to managing Convocation matters in consultation with all of us. A consultative Convocation Executive will enable us to democratically express the Convocation's support or disagreement with ongoing management and policies at SU, including on issues of transformation.
