A lot of people - especially adults - don’t realise what’s actually about to happen. If this law goes through, any Australian who wants to use YouTube will have to either:
1️⃣ Do facial recognition, or
2️⃣ Upload official ID.
That’s everyone. Not just kids. Not just teens. All Australians.
Think about that for a second - having to hand over your face or ID to a tech company just to watch a cooking tutorial, learn a new skill, or listen to music. It’s an extreme step that impacts privacy for all ages.
This is exactly why this petition matters. It’s not just about keeping YouTube open for students and young people - it’s about stopping mandatory ID checks for millions of Australians who use YouTube every day.
Please keep sharing this petition with as many people as possible. Post it in your group chats, statuses, on your socials, in Facebook groups, wherever you can. The more signatures we have, the louder our voice.
Let’s get this over 200 signatures this week and make sure the government understands we don’t want YouTube locked behind an ID gate. 🫡🔥
