Please keep John Lewis Haberdashery department open. Update: They're being kept open! :)
The Issue
John Lewis not selling haberdashery is like Marks & Spencer not selling pants (and Percy Pigs). For years, John Lewis has been the place to go for elastic, buttons, fabric, wool, taking up new hobbies, cute dinky sewing machines and inspiring ideas to get you started in making your house/flat/skanky-looking student digs look nice and patterns and fabrics to make fabulous clothes with. Why? Because it isn't massively expensive, the staff are nice, the fabric selection is aces and the button section – while not great if you're afraid of buttons (sorry Dad) – is amazing. We have to convince John Lewis that bikini waxes and prosecco bars should not replace this British institution. Hell no Pro-sec-o! (And I for one never thought I'd say that)
