"The urban forest, simply put, can be defined as every tree within the City. Trees provide multiple benefits for people in an Urban setting - some more apparent than others. We can easily see and feel how they enhance our civic pride, quality of life and sense of wellbeing, but they also provide measurable economic benefits and their natural services are a critical aspect of the City's green infrastructure." - HRM Urban Forest Master Plan.
The above image is one of those 'Every Trees' tagged to come down for a small concrete curbside cyclist approach to an intersection. It is a 100+year old elm and is part of the street's DNA. This is completely contrary to HRM's own policy on our urban forest.
