Secretary European Forum for Vaccine Vigilance (EFVV)London, ENG, United Kingdom
Dec 9, 2017
Back in mid-September, we informed you all of our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) and requested financial assistance to cover the cost of the meeting room. The response was quite abundant and humbling. Donations came from all over Europe, America, even Australia, and some amounts were substantial. The total exceeded our expectations, generously covering the cost of the meeting room. For this we are deeply grateful. In addition, the meeting this year was the most successful we have ever experienced in our 18 years of existence. We had the great fortune of finding a most dynamic and hard-working young man to moderate the proceedings, a multi-lingual Belgian graduate in Political Science and Economics from the University of York, whose clarity, focus and rapid grasp of our issues enabled us to make significant progress. Our organisation structure changed, our working groups were re-modelled and new goals were set. So thank you, dear supporters, for your generosity, belief in us and every one of your donations. Now for Transparency: one of the issues we discussed at the AGM was this www.change.org petition and the fact that another very similar text to this one had already been submitted by the EFVV to the EU and had unfortunately received a negative response from the European Commission. As such, we either need to seek another avenue to submit this text to the EU or we need to change the text. The www.change.org petition has however meant that we have shared information in a dozen different languages, complete with references, on the topic of mandatory vaccines, with now over 82,000 people from approximately 20 European countries. It is not a legal petition as such; the Change platform is a place where our voice can be strengthened, but our legal group is investigating other options open to us and should find that reaching 100,000 signatures will aid and support any other action. We will of course keep you posted on this. In the meantime, we will soon be uploading the response we received from the European Commission to our website (http://www.efvv.eu) for you to see. Please also familiarise yourselves with the listing of European pro-choice organisations on our website and make sure to visit our Facebook page for up-to-date news on the vaccination and freedom of choice issues in Europe. Our YouTube channel is continuing to collect relevant material in different languages; for example, there are now over 150 items listed on the English language section. We will be back in touch again soon. Thank you again. EFVV
